March-The Arrival of Spring plus a Milestone Birthday

I will admit. I have not been keeping up with these monthly blog posts as I had hoped but I had a chance to sit down and get back on track for March. With warmer weather ahead and the arrival of Spring plus a big birthday in our family, it promises to be a month filled with promise and happiness.

Spring Break

It’s crazy to think we are already approaching Spring Break. It seems like we just finished the holidays. While I don’t get to take Spring Break myself, I always look forward to the week as it is a welcome break from the daily carpool and school routine plus it signifies the unofficial start to Spring. While there is never any guarantee of warm weather this time of year, I’m hoping for some mild temps and a more relaxed week overall.

St. Patrick’s Day

While I am part Irish, I have never really done much to celebrate this holiday. In fact, two years ago, it was the start of the Covid lockdown so it had a negative association for awhile but now that things are improving, I’m hopeful this holiday can get back to it’s partying, silly ways. We may even celebrate to help change the stigma.

Official Start to Spring

With the changing of the clocks on March 13th and longer days back on tap, there is nothing more motivating to extend our days and stay active after work. There is just something about having more daylight that makes the day feel longer and brightens my mood.

The official kick-off of Spring is just a week later on March 20th. While Summer is my favorite season by far, Spring is second because it starts the trend towards Summer with warmer weather and more carefree days on the horizon. I’m a firm believer that warm, sunny days make such an impact on our mental state, at least for me they do.

Sweet 16

March 27th marks the sweet 16th birthday for my daughter and knowing she is our last one to celebrate this milestone birthday makes it that much more bittersweet. Having both a son and a daughter is such a blessing but it always amazes me how drastically different they can be. While my son didn’t want a big party or much attention lavished on him, my daughter has pretty much been planning this birthday for months.

In all honesty, I’m thrilled to be able to celebrate her. Since Covid hit right before her birthday two years ago, she didn’t have much of a celebration that year and a very small one last year as things were still uncertain. She faced so many challenges through the pandemic and we are so proud of how she has grown into the amazing young lady she is today. That is definitely worth celebrating, even if it is a little extra!

Auntie Life

Next to being a mama, the best thing is being an Auntie. I am so blessed to have so many nephews and a couple nieces to enjoy. With one of my nieces celebrating her birthday just two days after my daughter and the other one kicking off her Senior year celebrations at the end of the month, I can’t wait to celebrate these two beautiful girls I am lucky enough to have in my life.

Life isn’t always perfect and we know the world is a broken place right now, so I find that focusing on the blessings and gifts that God has given us help with maintaining a positive outlook each day. Looking ahead to celebrations and milestones is one way that I stay focused on the good. I hope the month of March is filled with joy for all of you as well.
