Summer Reading List

Although technically Summer doesn’t start officially for another couple of weeks, with school out and June underway, I think we are pretty much there. One of my favorite things to do to relax in the summertime is sit outside with a good book. I started this during the pandemic to get me outside and my mind on other things.

Over the last couple of years, I have rediscovered my love of reading and have made it a regular part of my lifestyle again. With more upcoming time outdoors plus some traveling, I thought I would put together a list of books that are either on my Summer reading list or I have read and recommend. I always love discovering new books through friends so I hope this helps anyone on the hunt for their next book to get lost in.

Colleen Hoover books! I found her books last summer and got completely lost in both “The End of Us” and “November 9”. I finished both within a week of starting them and couldn’t wait to read more. To say I am excited to see the movie based on “The End of Us” would be an understatement. Since then, I had a sweet friend send me “Verity” and that one was crazy good. I also read “It Starts with Us” to close out the storyline. It didn’t have my attention as much as the first one but still tied everything up with a bow the way I like it. I am currently reading “Ugly Love” and loving it so far. My niece says it is her favorite of all of them so I am anxious to see how it ends up. “Reminders of Him” is also on my list.

I just recently finished “Daisy Jones and the Six” and loved it. I am still working my way through the TV series but really enjoyed the book. This was my first book by Taylor Jenkins Reid and I have my sights set on “The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo” next. My niece also highly recommended this one so I am hoping to borrow it and add to my summer list.

I am also a huge fan of a good autobiography or self-help book. I’m always looking for good ones so when my girlfriend recommended “Born to Shine”, the story of Kendra Scott, I jumped at the chance to borrow it. I’m not much of a fan of reading multiple books at a time so I plan to start this one next.

Recently, I had a couple of books that I had the chance to read and then watch the movie. “Where the Crawdads Sing” was both an amazing book and movie. My daughter read “The Sun is Also a Star” for school and had me read it as well. It was a fairly easy read but we both enjoyed it. The movie was a little disappointing as it changed some key facts from the book and didn’t hold our attention as much as the book did.

My daughter and I have recently been watching the Twilight series. Neither of us were really interested in it while it was so popular but are really enjoying it so far. We may get inspired to read the books once we finish the movies.

So, what is on your Summer reading list? I would love to hear. Share some comments or head to my Instagram page to share. Happy Reading!
