Another new month, another monthly blog with events and holidays to look forward to. June is one of my favorite months of the year for many reasons. First, it is my birthday month but it’s also the start of Summer, my favorite season of the year. Here are a few things on the calendar this month to look ahead to. Feeling incredibly blessed to be able to plan events and trips again.
End of Year Sports Banquets
Although the school year is over, the strange schedule this year forced sports to extend beyond the regular academic school year. As a result, high school sports continue for another week or so into June and conclude with end of year banquets for both my kids. It is so special to celebrate my daughter’s first year of track and field but another bittersweet moment saying good-bye to high school baseball for my son. As a mom, I am so proud of both of their resilience and hard work at everything they do but high school sports are not easy by any means and bring some life lessons along with them. In the end, I know they will help shape who they are in the future.
Continued Graduation Celebrations
Let the festivities continue! We will celebrate my son’s high school graduation with a family party the second weekend of June. Not only does it give us another chance to celebrate his accomplishments but any chance to get together with family is welcomed now more than ever after the last year.
Birthdays, Birthdays, Birthdays!
As mentioned, June is my birthday month but it also signifies birthdays for my dad, brother and nephew. Birthdays are always a reason to celebrate but this year, being able to get together and celebrate in person means everything. While my dad’s celebration will be long distance, I am so thankful to be able to honor him this year as he has experienced some health challenges in the last year.
Father’s Day
I always love Father’s Day and celebrating not only my dad and stepdad but my husband too, who is an amazing dad. This year, I am hoping to get the kids out golfing with him to enjoy the day since they have both taken an interest in the game he loves so much. This is one of those years where my birthday falls exactly on Father’s Day but I never mind sharing such a special day with the men in my life.
Official Summer Kick-off
June 20th is an even more special day as it marks the official start of my favorite season, Summer. From pool days to beach and lake days to warm nights and making lots of memories, there is always something so magical about summertime. It always feels so carefree which is something we can all use after a very stressful year. While we don’t have any major trips planned, I’m hoping we can get away for a quick weekend trip or two and try to soak up all of the warm, sunny days.
